It took decades for drywall to get widely accepted in the 1950s.
Tape and Mud have been the dominant way of drywall finishing for the last 70 years.
Paper Tape is designed to use with the drying-type premixed drywall joint compound and the setting-type joint compound.
Fibreglass mesh tape is designed to use with a setting-type joint compound only. It is not recommended to use drying-type compounds with fibreglass mesh tape.
Setting-type drywall joint compound is designed to use with paper tape and fibreglass mesh tape.
Drying-type premixed drywall joint compound is designed for paper tape only.
Drywall joint compound is designed to use with tape. Regular drywall joint compound is going to crack on the joints without drywall tape.
Taping is the most time consuming process of drywall finishing. It requires expertise to perform, and it is expensive. Drywall tapers, homeowners, and DIYERS around the world would be really happy if they can skip the taping process.
“ Tape and Mud “ is not the only way to finish drywall joints.
Scientists and engineers around the world are working on Tapeless Drywall Finishing Solutions for years.
Liagle have been continuously working on tapeless drywall finishing since 2009.
Liagle is the pioneer of drywall joint compound Fibre Reinforcement.
As early as 3000 BC, the ancient Egyptians embedded straw in their mud bricks in order to control shrinkage and cracks, and improve the tensile strength.
The ancient Egyptians also mixed short cut straw with clay mud to finish the mud brick walls.
Inspired by ancient Egyptians, with modern technology and new materials Liagle Inc. invented Tape in Mud™, a fibre reinforcement solution for tapeless drywall finishing.
The fibres cross link to each other and form a 3D structural mat like Fibafuse Paperless Drywall Tape in the mud. It increases bonding strength and gives the mud more tensile strength and flexibility to resist cracks caused by plastic shrinkage, building shifting, moisture and temperature changes or poor boarding workmanship.
The joints are welded by the tapeless mud.
By skipping the taping process, finish only one side of the inside corner with a gap and don’t need to spreading the butt joints, it can save about 40% of labour time and it is easy to use for beginners and DIYERS.
Take a look at how hard he shaked and kicked!
The joints finished with Tape In Mud™ are much stronger than finished with drywall tape and taping mud. It’s even stronger than drywall itself.
